The Toronto Maple Leafs and Buffalo Sabres got heated tonight after a big hit on a Maple Leafs defenseman. The two sides broke down into an all-out fight. The fight would eventually lead to 10 ejections.
The Toronto Maple Leafs had a great night against the Buffalo Sabres. In a game where they scored 3 goals and Auston Matthews got his 60th of the season things were all looking up for the Maple Leafs. Then in the final seconds the game got insane.
Late in the game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Buffalo Sabres TJ Brodie had the puck in the corner. Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin went to take the puck from him and tripped him. After TJ Brodie was already on the ground Buffalo Sabre Alex Tuch came in and hit him. Several Maple Leafs players took exception to this starting a fight.
The referees would break up all the fighting and send players back to the benches while they figured out penalties. Eventually, it was decided that every player that was on the ice besides the goalies during the fights was to be ejected. After the ejections the last few seconds were played out and each team went on their way.
With the win, the Toronto Maple Leafs hold their third-place spot in the Atlantic Division. The Buffalo Sabres on the other hand slip further away from any chance of climbing back into the playoffs.
