After deciding to move William Nylander to center over the summer, the Leafs know there will be growing pains, and now, he may be forced to miss a crucial pre-season matchup tonight.
Flu-like symptoms
According to the Leafs latest press release, Nylander will miss practice today with flu-like symptoms which could cause him to miss a critical pre-season matchup.
Maple Leafs D John Klingberg (upper body, day-to-day) and F William Nylander (flu-like symptoms) will not practice today.
Given the move down the middle, Nylander has much to re-learn this summer, and these pre-season games give him the perfect opportunity for much needed reps, so any missed chances here will potentially make his start to the regular season that much slower.
On top of that, he's now got to build chemistry with two players he's never shared a line with in Max Domi and Calle Jarnkrok/Nick Robertson, so the Leafs will be hoping he can recover soon in order to get back on the ice.
