The Toronto Maple Leafs are making strategic moves, the latest being the much-anticipated signing of Nick Abruzzese.

"The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that the hockey club has re-signed forward Nicholas Abruzzese to a two-year, two-way contract extension. The average annual value of the contract is $775,000 at the NHL level.

Abruzzese, 24, posted 48 points (16 goals, 32 assists) through 69 games with the Toronto Marlies (AHL) during the 2022-23 season while adding seven points (two goals, five assists) through seven playoff games. Abruzzese tied for second in assists and ranked third in points among Marlies leaders during the 2022-23 regular season. The Slate Hill, NY native collected two assists in two games with the Maple Leafs this past season. Abruzzese has registered three points (one goal, two assists) in 11 career NHL games with Toronto."

The Leafs have inked a deal with the young talent, bolstering their roster and giving Coach Sheldon Keefe a variety of line options, adding another layer to the Leafs' strategic depth.
Abruzzese, a standout player from Harvard University, has been on the NHL's radar for his significant contributions on the ice.
Despite his relative youth, Abruzzese has shown leadership and poise, traits the Leafs' management clearly recognizes.
