The Toronto Maple Leafs are aiming to break a Stanley Cup streak that dates back to 1967 in 2023-24, and after some good moves thus far in the summer, they've now made another one.

A veteran in net

After going to arbitration with Ilya Samsonov, it appears the Leafs had settled on he and Joseph Woll as their goaltender tandem, but on Wednesday, they made the signing of Martin Jones official.
Jones, a 33-year old veteran spent last season with Seattle, going 27-13-3 with an .887 save percentage and a 2.95 GAA, leading the Kraken to the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.

A great depth move

While Samsonov is likely to continue as the teams primary goaltender, Jones will add plenty of depth and is capable of carrying the position as the teams No. 1 if the situation calls for it.
Now, the Leafs turn their attention to William Nylander and Auston Matthews, and if they can lock the core four in along with their other moves this off-season, they may be ready for a deep playoff run.
