Toronto's rich pool of forwards may force their prospect Nick Robertson to begin another season in the AHL with the Marlies. Despite his great talent, it's unclear if he'll make the team this season.

Now 22 years old, Robertson was Toronto's 2nd Round Selection in the 2019 NHL Draft. His journey to the pros has been hampered by injuries. Notably, a severe shoulder injury during a match against the Kings curtailed his season just as he was hitting his stride with the Leafs.
Sportsnet analyst Luke Fox shared an update on his situation.

Update on Robertson

According to Fox, given Toronto's formidable lineup on the Left Wing and Robertson's recent injury, it's likely he'll start with the Marlies. This move could provide him an opportunity to prove himself.
Well, the cap-pressed Leafs are once again carrying a tight roster (likely fewer than 23 bodies), and the soon-to-be-22-year-old Robertson is once again exempt from waivers, plus he hasn't played a game since suffering his season-ending shoulder injury on Dec. 8." - Luke Fox, Sportsnet

Throughout his time with Toronto, Robertson has scored 3 Goals and 4 Assists, accumulating 7 Points over 31 games. The sibling of Stars Forward Jason Robertson remains a highly-regarded talent within Toronto's organization.
Although he seemed ready last season, he's been overshadowed by emerging LW talent Matthew Knies, now a regular in the NHL lineup. However, with wingers Max Domi & Tyler Bertuzzi on short-term contracts, a standout season could give Robertson the opportunity to show that he's ready.
