The future of William Nylander with the Toronto Maple Leafs was discussed on TSN's 'Leafs Lunch'.

The insider Darren Dreger shared his thoughts amidst rumors of a possible trade.
According to Dreger, it seems like the Leafs are no longer considering letting go of Nylander. They want to keep their "corefour" intact, which includes Nylander, Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, and John Tavares. It's been suggested that Nylander and Marner's contracts might be the easiest to handle.
Additionally, Dreger mentioned that the Leafs' management is planning to negotiate contracts for their core group. All four players could become free agents in the next two seasons.

Nylander to Stay in Toronto?

After Kyle Dubas left the team following their elimination from the NHL playoffs by Florida, there have been changes in the Leafs' management. However, these changes are unlikely to significantly impact the team's strategy on the ice.
Under Dubas' leadership, the team expressed a strong interest in keeping Auston Matthews and William Nylander, who will become free agents soon. It's expected that the new GM, Brad Treliving, will likely follow a similar path.
At 27 years old, Nylander is probably the easiest player for the Leafs to move within their core four. With a reasonable salary of $6.9 million per year, it appears to be a simpler decision compared to the others, who earn over $10 million each season.
Nylander has impressive statistics (40 goals and 87 points), making him an attractive choice for any NHL team's top line. However, considering the Leafs' already talented lineup, it's highly likely that they are committed to keeping their star players under contract for the upcoming seasons.
