The league may not approve, but the Toronto Maple Leafs have affirmed their commitment to supporting Pride night despite a recent ruling by the NHL.

NHL Bans Pride Nights, Makes a Lot of People Angry

Last season, a few players chose not to wear Pride-themed jerseys during warm-ups due to religious or personal reasons, prompting the NHL to cancel the entire initiative. Additionally, the league recently issued a memo to NHL teams specifying that Pride tape, the multi-colored tape used on sticks to show support, was included in the ban. Leafs GM Brad Treliving has made it clear that he disagrees with this decision.
"This organization, myself personally, we've always been supporters of the LGBTQ community. Nothing's going to change with that. We'll figure out ways that we make sure we do the right things and support, as we always have, and stay true to what we believe in. There's always challenges in the world but that doesn't affect how we support (causes)." - Brad Treliving.

Supporting Treliving's Stance on Pride

Defenseman Morgan Rielly shares Treliving's viewpoint and intends to find a way to publicly express support for Pride.
"I'm going to continue to support people and causes that I think are important and are worthy of the support regardless of whatever rules get put in place about tape or attire or jerseys or whatever. I want to continue to do what I think is right." - Morgan Rielly

This issue is undeniably sensitive for the NHL, and the decision to outright ban any initiatives during warm-ups does appear to be an overreaction.
