Last night, in the Maple Leafs' game agains the Pittsburgh Penguins, an incident occurred where Pittsburgh's John Ludwig hit Max Domi from behind.

Knies Steps Up For Domi After Dirty Play

Leafs rookie Matthew Knies quickly confronted Ludwig, and they dropped the gloves, marking Knies' first fight in the NHL.
Knies managed to take down Ludwig and both players received 5-minute penalties for fighting.

We don't often see a rookie dropping the gloves to support a fallen teammate. Knies' actions show that he's ready to have a big role with the team.
