Nick Robertson is a fan-favourite Leafs prospect who has unfortunately been yet to crack the opening night roster for the club. Despite a genuine best effort, and a hard work ethic, the young forward just can't seem to crack the lineup, despite excelling in the AHL with the Marlies.
This has brought many questions about what the Leafs have in store for Robertson, and if they should consider trading him, or if he might consider leaving on his own. Elliotte Friedman recently weighed in.

"I think they told him 'it's not like we've got a lot of players here. It's not like you're buried behind a lot of extras'. It'll be a fascinating one to watch. He's doing what he has to do."
From Friedman's perspective, it seems like Robertson is right on the cusp of getting into the lineup. The issue is, with other incoming stars like Matthew Knies, Fraser Minten, and Easton Cowan making their mark and coming up through the ranks, it doesn't look like it will get any easier for Robertson.

It is clear that Robertson will play in the NHL one day, as the 22-year-old has plenty of time to make his mark. As for now, he continues to light up the AHL with his blast of a shot.

With Robertson not requiring waivers, it's obvious that the Leafs were going to use that to their advantage roster-wise. However, as the young star gets older, it might not be as easy to keep him around.
