The Maple Leafs got off to a relatively slow start this season but they appear to be rounding into form as they defeated the Stars in Dallas 4-1 Thursday night. After the game, head coach Sheldon Keefe was highly complimentary of one of his new players.
Bertuzzi signed a one-year, prove it style contract this offseason with Toronto. So far it hasn't gone great for him as he has just 2 goals and three points through 7 games, but Keefe sees that he has been playing better than the numbers might suggest.
The Leafs head coach went on to note how Bertuzzi has been contributing to the team despite his lack of points production. He was sure to point out that Bertuzzi has been giving the team an exceptional effort in keeping plays alive and creating chances for his linemates. He also complimented the winger's improved skating, crediting it for his goal Thursday night.
