The Toronto Maple Leafs are facing a pressing need for another defenseman. The voids created by John Klingberg's subpar performance and a series of injuries have exposed the Leafs' current vulnerability on the defensive side. It seems they may have found the ideal solution right in Calgary.
Hour 2 of First Up with @Aaron_Korolnek and @frankcorrado22:

- @DarrenDreger on the #LeafsForever reported interest in Zadorov and what is next for the Oilers after their loss to the Sharks last night

- Is John Klingberg being scapegoated or does he deserve the criticism coming his way

- Pigeon or Peacock
Nikita Zadorov perfectly fits the bill for the Leafs' current defensive requirements. What's even more appealing is that Brad Treliving was the GM who inked Zadorov to his 2-year deal in Calgary. The foundation is in place; Treliving only has to close it.

Leafs' Defensive Injuries Highlight the Fragility of Their Blue Line

Indeed, the Leafs currently find themselves in an unusual injury situation, highlighting John Klingberg's struggles. Nonetheless, this is a situation they must be prepared for as the season goes on.
Zadorov, a physically imposing defenseman capable of playing significant minutes, is reminiscent of Luke Schenn, whom the Leafs lost to free agency this past summer.

Tonight, the Leafs will have a chance to witness Zadorov's abilities firsthand as they face off against the Flames in what feels like a must-win game for the club.
