Today a Toronto Maple Leafs prospect has been traded and will now be playing his hockey season in Ottawa. The trade sends a ton of picks and prospects each way in a blockbuster level deal.
Maple Leafs Forward Prospect Traded To Ottawa
Earlier today a trade was announced involving Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Braeden Kressler. Kressler will be moving teams in the OHL from the Flint Firebirds to the Ottawa 67s.
The Firebirds have acquired a second round pick, three third round picks and a ninth round pick from the Ottawa 67's in exchange for Braeden Kressler and two draft choices.
Kressler is in his last season of OHL eligibility and will now have a fantastic opportunity to chase an OHL championship and a potential Memorial Cup. He has been a fast-rising prospect within the Maple Leafs system thanks to his fantastic play with Flint this season.
Maple Leafs Prospect Looking To Dominate The OHL With New Team
Kressler will join an Ottawa 67s team desperate for offensive help. Kressler this season has 15 goals and 37 points in 33 games. This would be tied for the team lead on his new team in Ottawa.
Kressler, an undrafted free agent signee by the Maple Leafs, will likely be relied on heavily by the 67s who currently sit 5th in the Eastern Conference. Even though they are currently 5th they are only 5 points behind conference leader Sudbury. If Kressler can come in and make an impact the 67s could find themselves as a serious contender in the OHL.
A good stretch run in the OHL could set Kressler up fantastic for next season where he will likely start in the AHL with the Toronto Marlies.
