The Toronto Maple Leafs' star player William Nylader signed a massive contract extension with the Toronto Maple Leafs yesterday, putting an end to months of trade rumors and salary speculations.

His eight-year, $92 millions contract is the highest in franchise history.
In a recent interview, he talked about his deal, and didn't shy away from making a comment about his negotiations with Treliving compared to former Leafs GM Kyle Dubas.

During a live interview on Sportsnet with Kyper and Bourne, he sent a sublte dig at Dubas. He said that he was happy that the most recent negotiations didn't take as long as it did for his previous contract.
"I'm glad to it didn't take as long as the last time."
The fact that he made that comment without even being asked to showed that he prefered dealing with Treliving. This is a good thing for Leafs fans, considering both John Tavares and Mitch Marner will need new contracts after next season.
