Nylander and the Maple Leafs finally came together and inked a contract extension worth $11.25 million annually over the next eight years, and Toronto fans are excited.
Now, the team is locked into their top four players for over half of the salary cap, and with issues on the back end of the team, questions have been raised about just how good they can be in the coming years.

For the first time since his deal became official, the 27-year old has opened up on what went into the deal getting signed, and his comments certainly shouldn't surprise anyone.

Nylander also went on to say that his dream for his NHL career is to win a Stanley Cup in Toronto and retire as a Maple Leaf, and if that happens, he will no doubt go down as one of the greatest players in franchise history.

Winning a Cup with the roster makeup the way it is may be much easier said than done, but with the Core Four all locked in, this is now the time for this team to make a run.
