Toronto Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving had an in person talk with Mitch Marner's agent, Darren Ferris at the NHL draft combine in Buffalo this week.

Ferris made it clear on Monday that his client plans to start the next season in Toronto.
Treliving, to The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun, urged caution about believing everything you hear regarding Marner and the Maple Leafs. However, he didn't rule out the possibility of a move involving the star forward.
Brad Treliving on Mitch Marner: «Mitch controls a lot of this whole thing (with the no-trade). If there's a way to make our team better, we're going to do it. But we're certainly not going to make a trade just so we can pound our chest and say, ‘Look, we're different.
With one year left on his contract, Marner can ink an extension with the club come July 1. But so far, there's been no indication of any imminent deal.
After another first round defeat, speculation about Marner's future with the club has dominated Leafs land. However, an answer isn't expected before July 1, when Marner pockets a $7.25 million signing bonus. After that, he's owed $775,000 before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2025.
