Toronto acquire Cade Webber from the Carolina Hurricanes
In one of the more surprising deals of the day, Toronto have given the Hurricanes a 2026 sixth-round draft pick in exchange for 23-year old defenseman Cade Webber.
TRADE: We've acquired defenceman Cade Webber from the Carolina Hurricanes
Webber currently plays at Boston University where he has tallied 1 goal and 15 assists in 115 games over the past four years, and could be a solid name on the back end for Toronto going forward.
It's unclear what the motive behind this move is from the Maple Leafs, but that's another pick going out for a defenseman that may not help them win a Cup in 2023-24, so now we wait and see if there's another move coming.
