The Tampa Bay Lightning picked up a huge victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday, but unfortunately for the Leafs, one call may have changed the outcome.

While the Lightning would go on to defeat the Maple Leafs 4-1, there was a call in the first period that may have changed the entire outcome, as another Maple Leafs game is marred in controversy. In the first period, the Lightning picked up the lead on another goal from Victor Hedman, but unsurprisingly, Leafs fans on social media saw an issue with it.
That's a goal, btw.
While some Maple Leafs fans are often accused of not being able to hide their bias, there's nothing wrong with this commentary, as the Maple Leafs clearly handled the puck after a delayed penalty was called, which should have resulted in the play being whistled dead. In response to this Tweet, a profile named Scouting the Refs responded, agreeing with the fact that this play should have been blown dead, instead of being allowed to go on, resulting in a crucial goal for Tampa Bay.
TOR 22 plays the puck. Looked like enough 'control' for me to blow the whistle there. Possibly ref up high didn't see and ref in the slot (!!!) too worried about getting out the way.
It's impossible to say that Toronto would have won the game if this was called correctly, but it's certainly a call that shouldn't have gone against them, but will likely serve in adding more fuel to the fire of this rivalry ahead of a potential playoff showdown.
