The Vancouver Canucks just parted ways with assistant coach Mike Yeo, leading to widespread speculation that he will join Craig Berube's staff with the Toronto Maple Leafs next season.
Yeo was reportedly very popular within the Canucks organization, which is certainly a good sign for Leafs fans. Apparently, the team even went so far as to offer him a contract extension, but Yeo declined the deal. He reportedly wants to be closer to home.
from all accounts, mike yeo was well liked in the vancouver organization and did a lot of good for that penalty kill unit
it sounds like they even offered him a contract to stay but he wanted to be closer to home

Notably, Yeo is from Toronto. Could this be a hint that he is planning on joining the Leafs next season? It very well could mean exactly that. At the very least, it seems like that is the most accepted theory running through hockey circles right now.
Looks like Mike Yeo could potentially be joining Berube's coaching staff.
We'll see
Adding fuel to this fire is the fact that Yeo and Berube have a history together. The two were both part of the Blues coaching staff for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons. This would add up with reports that Berube was going to bring someone he's worked with before to his coaching staff in Toronto.
The Vancouver Canucks have announced that they've mutually parted ways with Assistant Coach, Mike Yeo.
Yeo is another possible candidate for an assistant job in Toronto.
Berube and Yeo were on the Blues bench together in 2017-18 and part of 2018-19.

At this point it seems like only a matter of time before the Leafs announce Yeo as one of their new coaches. Be sure to stay tuned for when that announcement comes.
