Gerry James, who played in 149 career games for the Toronto Maple Leafs, has passed away. He first joined the Leafs for a single game in the 1954-55 season, and subsequently went on to spend parts of four more seasons with the team, spanning between 1955 and 1960.
James had an unusual career in pro sports as he was primarily known for his time in the Canadian Football League. He was a running back for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, getting his start at the ripe age of 17. He would go on to score 63 touchdowns and 645 total career points along with 5554 career rushing yards. He was inducted to the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1981.
