Mitch Marner Hints at Possibly Accepting Trade Request

Toronto Maple Leafs star forward Mitch Marner has hinted in some of his previous comments that he is open to accepting a trade request this offseason following the Leafs' early exit in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
During the end-of-season media availability with the Leafs players and head coach Sheldon Keefe, Marner was one of many players interviewed.
Out of all his comments, Marner noted how it is his goal to sign an extension with the Leafs. However, Marner also mentioned how the Toronto Raptors traded a number of their big-name players away from the 2019 NBA Championship-winning team and how the reception was when they came back to Toronto.

Marner claims he enjoys being a Leaf and wants to remain in Toronto long-term, but his comments suggest the opposite. It seems he wants to move out and get the heroes welcome upon his return rather than constantly take the media beatings game after game.
Rightfully, fans are speculating as they don't know what is going to happen to the team this offseason. Marner has a full no-movement clause and controls his destiny currently. If Marner wants that positive response upon his return, it is likely that he plays his cards right and waives his movement clause completely giving Brad Treliving a wide-open playing field.
