Insider Reveals Maple Leafs decision on Tyler Bertuzzi
The Toronto Maple Leafs reportedly want Tyler Bertuzzi back in blue and white.
According to reports, it's still early days in the negotiation game, but the Leafs are eager to lock things down before Bertuzzi hits the open market in July.
It's possible Treliving, could be looking at a max term of 4 years, aiming to seal the deal at 3.

Circling back on the Tyler Bertuzzi contract negations. I'm told it's still very early in the process but obviously the #Leafs would like to get this done sometime before the 29 year old from Sudbury could test the open market in July. If I'm Brad Treesmoker Treliving and company at Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment my max on term would be 4 years, and I'd try to get it over the finish line at 3. AM34 is locked in for 4 years starting next season and anything over that seems unnecessary. I would try to get that number somewhere under 5 mill AAV for sure.

With Auston Matthews locked in for 4 years starting next season, anything beyond that might be pushing it. As for the AAV, around $5 million seems doable.
Bertuzzi's impact can be compared to Ryan Hartman's deal at 3 years, 4 mill AAV, and Ivan Barbashev's rolling with 5 years at $5 mill AAV. He has two Cups in the past few years, one with the ST Louis Blues in 2019 and the Vegas Golden Knights in 2023. Bertuzzi, 29, has been waiting for his host, and Hartman's been a reliable goal scorer for the Dallas Stars.
