Vancouver Canucks defenseman Nikita Zadorov is gearing up for free agency this summer, and it's not just about finding a team to play for—it's about finding a place he can truly call home.

Since the start of Russia's conflict in Ukraine, Zadorov hasn't been shy about his stance. He's been vocal in his support for Ukraine, despite the risks that come with speaking out against the regime which has gotten him banned from his home country of Russia.
#Canucks defenseman Nikita Zadorov (@zadorov_16) says he is unable to return to his home country of Russia for as long as Vladimir Putin is in power.

Zadorov criticized Vladimir Putin and the war in Ukraine during an interview last summer.

"I'd be in Siberia the next day" Zadorov said last week.

With the 29 year-old's breakout year last season between the Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks, Zadorov is on the radar for many teams this Summer. He racked up 6 goals, 14 assists, and a hefty 125 penalty minutes in 75 games, averaging nearly 18 minutes per night. He's also a 6'5 220 pounder that can bang bodies and block shots.
Now, as he looks ahead to the free agency frenzy, Zadorov's hoping to secure a six-year deal, with rumors swirling around a $6 million per season payday. It's not just about the money or the game for Zadorov—it's about finding a place where he can continue to stand up for what he believes in and feel at home with his family.
