Auston Matthews isn't the hart-trophy winning player he was last season. Kyle Dubas has now commented on this ‘down season'.

Kyle Dubas Shares His Thoughts

Auston Matthews had an exceptional performance in the 2021-22 season, earning both the Rocket Richard trophy and the League MVP title.
There was much anticipation for his performance in the current season.
However, he has not been able to meet the high expectations so far, with 61 points in 55 games.
Although this is an impressive statistic, his projected goal pace of 41 over a full 82-game season is below what fans would typically expect from him.
Kyle Dubas has now shared his thoughts on this dip in production:
As everyone knows, he's played through some injuries and things that have hampered him... If this is a down season for him offensively, that's a really good sign in terms of how great a player he is.
Despite Auston Matthews' injuries, he has managed to maintain a point-per-game average, which is often overlooked. However, his injuries may help explain his current performances.
We're hopeful that he will recover and be back in the conversation for the Hart Trophy next season!
