Flames Talk podcast members have indicated in their recent show that the Leafs along with the Flames and Oilers are linked to Mark Giordano, oldest NHL player.

Last season, at 40 years young, Mark Giordano was the oldest player in the NHL, suiting up for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Despite his advanced age, Giordano has made it clear that he's not ready to hang up his skates just yet. His agent, Ritch Winter, recently insinuated on the Eric Francis Hour that multiple teams have an interest in adding the veteran defenseman, including three from Canada.
Mark Giordano's leadership and experience would be an absolute plus to the Toronto Maple Leafs locker room. Being the eight-year captain of the Calgary Flames who has suited up for a few NHL teams, he brings a wealth of knowledge, particularly on the blue line, that only elevates a team. In Toronto last season, he was known to take younger players under his wing and teach them about professionalism and the mentality it takes to be a defenseman at the highest level.
With the Leafs having limited cap space and a surplus of defensemen, it would appear that Mark Giordano would need to sign a league-minimum deal to join the club as a depth defenseman. The club still needs to figure out the Jani Hakanpaa situation who remains sidelined with an injury, and therefore the contract has not been made official yet, but once that gets sorted out, the Leafs may turn their attention to Giordano.
It remains to be seen if Leafs GM Brad Treliving pursues Mark Giordano, but the team definitely has a little bit of wiggle room still to try and fit him in their roster.
