Hockey world mourns loss of 31-year-old defenseman

Troy Wylie made his hockey debut with the Napanee Raiders in the Empire B Junior C Hockey League (EBJCHL), playing defense for four years with the Napanee Raiders. After scoring 20 goals and 42 total points in 156 career games, he hung up the skates after the 2014-15 season ended. Yet, after nearly a decade away from the sport, Troy Wylie decided to make a comeback to the ice this last season with the Eastern Ontario Sentrio Hockey League (EOSHL), playing in 10 games with the Deseronto Bulldogs after signing with them last July.

Unfortunately, the EOSHL has lost the defenseman at just 31 years old, not allowing him to finish what he started with the Deseronto Bulldogs. According to recent reports, Troy Wylie lost his life in a devastating motorcycle accident. The Kingston, Ontario native was locally renowned for his passion for the sport and his upstanding character.

This tragedy clearly weighs heavy on the Napanee region, and it is clear Troy Wylie will be remembered fondly. We hope you can join us in wishing the best for his family, friends, and former Deseronto Bulldogs teammates amidst this heartache.
