There have been rumours circulating that the Toronto Maple Leafs may be open to trading defensemen Timothy Liljegren this off-season in an attempt to shake up their D-core.
Liljegren, the 17th overall pick in the 2017 NHL draft by the Maple Leafs, has struggled to gain a full time roll on the team due to injuries and inconsistent play, and now his time in Toronto may be coming to an end.
According to rumours, the Maple Leafs may look to trade the 25 year old pending RFA, as they look for a new identity under head coach Craig Berube.
The Maple Leafs have been rumoured to have interest in both Brett Pesce and Brandon Montour, who will both become UFA's on July 1st. Signing one or both of these players would most likely mean Liljegren's time in Toronto is over.
Only time will tell what Liljegren's fate will be in Toronto as the July 1st free agent frenzy draws closer.
