The Maple Leafs have been in the headlines since their season ended, but now we know one report surrounding the team is fake, according to reporter Nick Alberga.
Unsurprisingly, given their massive playoff disappointment, the Toronto Maple Leafs have been at the forefront of the NHL rumour mill for weeks now, with Mitch Marner gaining most of the attention. Given another playoff stinker from No. 16, it's no surprise that he's been linked to a major trade, but there's only one issue; he has a complete no-movement clause.
However, it was recently reported that Marner had compiled a list of nine teams to which he would accept a trade, if that's the way the Maple Leafs were leaning.
It's now been revealed though that this is not entirely accurate, with Maple Leafs reporter Nick Alberga bluntly addressing the report and shutting it down.
No, Mitch Marner has not submitted a list of 9 teams.
Complete BS.
Carry on.
There's still a great chance that in the near future, the Maple Leafs could ask Marner to submit a list and approach him with the idea of a trade, but as of now with so much time left to go in the off-season, it appears as though that has not happened yet. Given their new Head Coach and their desire to chase a Stanley Cup, many believe this is still the best move for Toronto however, so keep a close eye on Marner and the Maple Leafs as they look to make a major splash or two over the summer.
