The head coach of the New Jersey Devils Sheldon Keefe caused a stir with his latest comments about the Toronto Maple Leafs organization.
A few days after hiring Sheldon Keefe as their head coach, the New Jersey Devils held a press conference to introduce him to the media.
During the event, Keefe, the former Leafs head coach, made a comment about his former organization that caused a bit of a stir in the Maple Leafs' fanbase.
He said that many coaches in the NHL reached out to him after being hired by the Devils to say that he should be happy to join a team in the real NHL. By saying that, they meant that the Leafs are in a league of their own, but not for the good reasons.
"It was a tremendous honour to coach the Maple Leafs. There's a lot that goes into that. I've had a number of well-established coaches in the league reach out to say I should be happy now that I get to coach in the real NHL. Toronto is quite unique, it's not like the rest of the league."
There's no doubt that New Jersey is a smaller market than Toronto. He'll get less attention and pressure from the media, which will surely help him lead his new team to a Stanley Cup.
Do you think Sheldon Keefe will lead the New Jersey Devils to a Stanley Cup in the next three season?
