Dumba was asked about Toronto as a destination and revealed that they were a team he talked to during free agency. According to Dumba one of the main factors that put the Coyotes ahead of the Maple Leafs at the time was the fact that he owned a house in Arizona.
Matt Dumba says, yes, the Toronto Maple Leafs were one of several teams that expressed interest in him during free agency.

With this quote from Dumba this likely means he is not open to signing an extension with any team he is traded to at the trade deadline. This is something Maple Leafs front office members will need to consider Dumba is likely nothing more than a rental.
