The Toronto Maple Leafs assumed they had lost veteran goaltender Matt Murray for the season, but now there's a strong chance he returns for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

In the latest update on the veteran star however, it appears that things have changed, with Nick Barden of The Hockey News revealing that he could be back by early April, in time for the playoffs.
Report: Matt Murray could be medically cleared by early April, meaning a return to game action is still possible for the netminder this season. ⤵️
With Ilya Samsonov, Joseph Woll and Martin Jones all getting significant playing time this season, it's unclear where exactly he fits into the situation, but if he's healthy, he needs to be on the roster come playoff time. The 29-year old steered the Pittsburgh Penguins to back-to-back Stanley Cup's as a very young goaltender, and with the Leafs looking to break a drought that dates back to 1967, a healthy Matt Murray may be the player to do it.
The Maple Leafs won't pin their hopes and dreams on him recovering in time for the playoffs, but if it happens, it presents Toronto with a fantastic problem to have of too many talented goaltenders.
