Matthew Knies was the hero in Game 5 for the Toronto Maple Leafs, but more than that he showed he was a team player by standing up for Morgan Reilly after he was targeted by Boston Bruins superstar David Pastrnak.

Pastrnak appeared to be attached to Rielly's hip during an altercation at the end of the second period, before Knies came in and asked Pastrnak to go with him, to which Pastrnak declined, much to the delight of Knies, who has this to say about the altercation;
"He's going after our best defenceman & just don't like to see that. I don't want Mo to get into interactions like that. I need him to focus on the game and helping us win"
Joel Edmundson, who the Leafs acquired at the deadline from the Washington Capitals, thinks this is the spark the Leafs could use to claw their way back into the series.
"We rally behind stuff like that."

Knies scored the overtime winner on Tuesday night against the Bruins, sending the series back to Toronto for game 6, a rink in which the Leafs have lost six straight playoff games.
Knies will look to have another big impact in game 6, as 69 goal scorer Auston Matthews is once again questionable for Thursday nights game.
