PK Subban, being a former NHL defenseman himself, understands what is going on in Toronto, and thinks Sheldon Keefe is to blame. For that, he wants him fired.

PK Subban Thinks The Leafs Defensive Issues Fall on Keefe's Shoulders and For That He Should Be Fired

The Leafs have struggled defensively this season. Injuries have plagued the blue line, and that has only put a spotlight on other players who have struggled.
However, PK Subban thinks that there is a lack of buy-in on the defensive front, and if the Coaches are preaching it to deaf ears, it falls on their shoulders for the failure.
I'm sorry - where is the defensive structure? That's all coaching, that's all preparation, that's getting guys to buy in. If you are practicing it and you are preaching it and you can't get players to buy in, that's a completely separate issue, so all fingers go back to the coaching.
The Leafs will have a new look on defence tonight, as Jake McCabe checks back in and John Klingberg sits out. Klingberg has been highlighted by the media as the Leafs biggest defensive issue, so if he is the problem, they should have more success tonight on the back end.

Subban Also Thinks There is Another Issue with How Sheldon Keefe Coaches

Subban wasn't done with just going in on Keefe's lack of ability to get buy-in from his players.
He also thinks that Keefe doesn't handle his star players' ice time very well. He thinks that Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner are playing way too much to be sustainable in the long run.
More importantly, it's too much ice time. Auston Matthews averaging 21:30 per game. Mitch Marner is [above] 21 minutes. The only star player on that team that isn't above 20 minutes is John Tavares."

Subban rightly points to the Vegas Golden Knights as a team that successfully rolled their lines to a Stanley Cup championship.
The Leafs have had some recent success with a new third line featuring Domi and Nick Robertson, which should help them out in the long run.
