Dr. David Mulder was recently celebrated for his dedicated service to the team in a touching retirement ceremony. Following the event, he shared additional details about Carey Price's knee injury and the actual reason behind his retirement.
"It was very frustrating for us and doubly so for him. We realized he had two injuries," he explained, adding that it was during an operation to correct the first that the second was discovered.

"He had a meniscus injury so we sent him to New York for an operation and during it the surgeon found that the femur had lost all of its cartilage. It was a surprise and that's what ended his career."
While Carey Price has not officially announced his retirement from the NHL, it is widely acknowledged that he will not return to play due to his knee injury. Even Price himself conceded that his career was over, barring a miraculous turnaround. However, Price continues to remain active within the Canadiens organization.

Price Persists in Rehabilitating His Knee for a Better Quality of Life

Despite the sad news of his playing career's end, Price remains committed to rehabilitating his knee, aiming to ensure a high quality of life for himself as he embarks on a future beyond hockey with his wife and family.

Price remains under contract with the Canadiens until 2026. While his days as a player have come to an end, he has not ruled out the possibility of pursuing a career in hockey off the ice, potentially working with the Canadiens organization.
