The Toronto Maple Leafs have been playing some of their best hockey of the season over the past couple of months. However, injuries have meant that Sheldon Keefe has had to be creative with some of his lineup choices.

Maple Leafs Trying New Lines In Game Against Hurricanes

The team is coming off a 6-2 over the Philadelphia Flyers. Many coaches would stick with the same lineup after such a result, but Sheldon Keefe does not have that luxury. Instead, he has put the lines in a blender, showcasing some new combinations at practice this morning.
Lines at Leafs practice

Bertuzzi - Matthews - Holmberg
McMann - Domi - Nylander
Knies - Tavares - Robertson
Dewar - Kampf - Gregor
Reaves

Brodie - McCabe
Rielly - Timmins
Edmundson - Liljegren
Giordano, Benoit

Samsonov
Woll
Jones

Many of these players are in positions they are used to. John Tavares has bounced between the 2nd and 3rd lines this season and many of the wingers have played games up and down the lineup. That being said, many Leafs fans are not particularly thrilled with this iteration of the lineup.

Sheldon Keefe Called Out For Bad Lineup Decisions

Anything can change, but typically teams will use the same lines in practice as they plan to use in their next game. As such, many Leafs fans are unhappy with this roster. One standout in particular is the fact that Simon Benoit is a healthy scratch, when he has consistently been the team's best shutdown defender this year.
Why is timmins in this lineup and Benoit out ?? Like what are we doing here
Benoit does not deserve this. I've seen nothing from Edmundson that indicates he's better. Benoit has been noticeably better and physical.
Hopefully, Benoit will be back in the Leafs' lineup shorty as his presence typically makes the team better. Last time the Leafs faced Carolina, Keefe healthy scratched the team's best penalty killer in David Kampf and he immediately regretted that decision. We will see if he regrets and of his lineup choices tomorrow night.
