The Toronto Maple Leafs are gearing up for the playoffs, which means that their main goal is to stay healthy. However, that didn't go as planned last night when both Jake McCabe and Bobby McMann left the game with injuries.
The battle between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Detroit Red Wings didn't go how the Leafs hoped across the rink. The Leafs couldn't pull out a win, Auston Matthews didn't hit his 70-goal marker at home, and, even worse, the Leafs didn't stay healthy. During the game, both Bobby McMann and Jake McCabe went out with an injury that kept them from returning.
After the game, Sheldon Keefe made some announcements regarding Jake McCabe and Bobby McMann's health.
Sheldon Keefe says it looks like Jake McCabe is fine and couldn't come back due to the swelling.
Says Bobby McMann has a lower-body injury and they still have to determine the e severity of it.
This is good news for McCabe, however, terrible news for McMann, who has been excellent in his time with the Leafs since being called up from the minors. Hopefully, given the uncertainty of the injury, the lower body injury is just minor and he can rest up enough before playoffs begin to be back to nearly 100 percent.
McMann is a crucial player for the Leafs in that he can play up and down the lineup, bringing his offensive capabilities to whichever line he plays with. That allows Sheldon Keefe the flexibility to spread his offence out.
Hopefully, in these last two games, the Leafs can remain healthy.
