The Toronto Maple Leafs are already missing Morgan Rielly to suspension and John Tavares to a lingering day-to-day injury. The good news is that Tavares will likely be in the lineup on Monday, but the bad news is that a few other Maple Leafs may not be.
Numerous Leafs not at the optional practice Sunday
Head Coach Sheldon Keefe gave all of Max Domi, Jake McCabe, and Timothy Liljegren a maintenance day on Sunday as the 9-2 drubbing of the Anahiem Ducks became a physical affair. Quite a few Leafs are already playing banged up.
At least John Tavares was back in his usual second line centre spot. He was playing between William Nylander and Tyler Bertuzzi.
The Maple Leafs only had twelve forwards and five defenseman at practice Sunday afternoon, including the recently suspended Morgan Rielly, and Marshall Rafai, who was called up due to William Lagesson's injury in the Anaheim game.
Leafs current injury woes are quite numerous
William Lagesson was injured in the Anaheim game. Mark Giordano and Connor Timmins are also nursing injuries on the back end that will see them not in the lineup.
Calle Jarnkrok and Joseph Woll are two players on LTIR coming back this season, while Jake Muzzin and Matt Murray are not. John Klingberg is likely out as well but that news has been somewhat controversial.
