The Toronto Maple Leafs training camp roster has been announced for the 2024-25 season
The Maple Leafs training camp roster is out, and there are some guarantees for a spot as well as rookies who are looking to make the team.
New head coach Craig Berube will have his opportunity to finally view the team in training camp. This year with a high-power offense for him to play with, he will have to make some decisions moving forward without having a bias or loyalty to one player or another.
In the goaltending position, Joseph Woll is looking to make himself the number one guy in net. With him, Anthony Stolarz and even Matt Murray are looking to get into that number one or backup spot. Too many options may not be a issue for goalie, as Toronto just offered yesterday a PTO to Jon Gilles.
This year we will see two Nylanders in camp, as William Nylander will be joined by brother Alexander. Alex is under contract with the Marlies, but I am sure it will be fun for both brothers to attempt camp together. Alex was previously with the AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pens and Pittsburgh Penguins organization.
The three rookies to keep an eye on, with one possibly making the team would be Easton Cowan, Nikita Grebenkin and Fraser Minten. But these three would not be the only options for Berube to have on the roster.
Defenseman Topi Niemelä does not have the size, but is a good offensive threat at the blue line. Another D-man who does have the size at 6'7 would be Cade Webber. He finished off his college career by practicing with the Leafs during their playoff run.
The team's first on ice session is set to take place at the Ford Performance Centre on September 19th. The Leafs open their pre-season with a visit to Scotiabank Arena to play the Senators on Sunday, September 22nd.
