The Toronto Maple Leafs have a massive year ahead full of expectations, and while their roster is full of veteran talents, there's certainly room for some young names to make a push in the coming weeks. Unfortunately, it has now been announced that three young names have all suffered injuries, and won't be available for the start of training camp according to TSN's Chris Johnston.
Johnston has revealed that Fraser Minten, Connor Dewar and 2024 first-round draft pick Ben Danford will all miss the start of training camp for health reasons, but he doesn't give a timetable for the potential return of any of them. However, given that it's just the start of camp that is mentioned in the above post, it gives optimism that all of them will be able to feature at some point in the pre-season, which will give them the opportunity to push for a roster spot.
With the additions of Alex Nylander and Max Pacioretty to an already loaded Maple Leafs forward group, spots will be few and far between, and will need to be won in the pre-season, so look for some big pushes from young names as the Maple Leafs look to fill out their roster to finally end their Stanley Cup drought.
