Toronto Star writer Kevin McGran has stirred the pot regarding the future of Mitch Marner with the Toronto Maple Leafs with potential trade destinations.

McGran took the Toronto Star on May 5th to discuss some off-season questions facing Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving.
While Treliving inherited this team last off-season, he has a lot of work to do with very little margin for error. Eight straight seasons of Auston Matthews, John Tavares, Mitch Marner, William Nylander and Morgan Rielly failing to make a deep playoff run. Six for Tavares and five as captain for him while the others have eight years of consistent failure.
If you're Morgan Rielly, there's even more heartbreak to that as he's been around since 2011, some really dark days for the Maple Leafs franchise.
Divided stances on the state of the team between Morgan Rielly and captain John Tavares only make this off-season even more challenging.
Add to the fact that McGran says that either the Tampa Bay Lightning or Utah NHL Team (formerly Arizona Coyotes) are the two best destinations for Mitch Marner and Leafs fans are ready to implode.
Trading Marner to a divisional rival makes zero sense, and trading him to Utah could pose for a solid option, especially with the amount of draft capital and young prospects they have currently.
Marner would bring in a solid haul if he is willing to trade his no-movement clause for Utah, and Utah would make sure he is cheered as the superstar he wants to be seen as.
