In a less than stellar NHL free agent class in 2024, there are just a few names that stand out above the rest, with Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk among those coveted names. According to recent reports, DeBrusk, who hails from Alberta, purchased land in his home province, leading to speculation that he is bound for either the Calgary Flames or Edmonton Oilers in free agency.
With free agency just over a week away, there's no guarantees from the former Bruins forward however, and now, the Toronto Maple Leafs have reportedly joined the race for the middle-six forward.
While living close to home would no doubt be a perk of heading to Edmonton or Calgary, the lure of a big contract in a big city could certainly distract the 27-year old. It's unclear what DeBrusk's next move is at this point, but after netting 71 goals over the past three years, it's safe to say that Toronto won't be the only contender chasing DeBrusk this summer.
