TSN links three left wingers to the Toronto Maple Leafs including Max Pacioretty
In a new report, TSN linked three left wingers to the Toronto Maple Leafs, including Max Pacioretty.
With training camp set to start in the coming weeks, teams are looking to make last-minute deals to fill holes in the lineup.
In Toronto, general manager Brad Treliving made many changes in the offseason, and the team could start the season with the players they have now. However, it's been suggested that the Leafs could be looking to add further depth to the left-wing position.
Many interesting players are still available, and Treliving could opt to get one on either a regular contract or a professional tryout (PTO).

On TSN's First Up, analysts discussed that situation, and according to them, three available players could fit in Toronto:
Nick Cousins, Max Pacioretty, or James van Riemsdyk.
"The Maple Leafs are reportedly interested in adding to their left-wing depth, which I think makes a lot of sense considering what they currently have on their roster and what they currently don't, with Nick Robertson remaining unsigned as a restricted free agent. I did look to see who's out there. Who's available? James van Riemsdyk -- what a reunion that would be, a possibility. Max Pacioretty, maybe Nick Cousins."
Let's take a look at what each of them could bring to the team.
Nick Cousins, 31, was chosen as the NHL's most hated player this season. His controversial playing style made multiple enemies over the course of his career. Recently, he won the Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers, but he hasn't signed a contract with a team for the next season.
If he's willing to accept a small salary, Cousins could bring a lot of grit to the Leafs, especially under Craig Berube, who would know how to use him, being a former NHL enforcer himself.
Next up is Max Pacioretty. The former Montreal Canadiens captain has dealt with many significant injuries in recent years. At 35, he likely won't be able to replicate what he did in 2014-15, when he scored 67 points in 80 games, the best season of his career. However, he could bring a lot of leadership and his natural talent to the Leafs. In 902 career games in the NHL, he tallied 668 points, including 330 goals.
Finally, James van Riemsdyk could be a great option to add depth to the bottom six. The former member of the Toronto Maple Leafs organization could be interested in returning to where he played between 2012 and 2018. His experience could be beneficial for the Leafs as they look to make a splash in the playoffs and win nothing less than a Stanley Cup.
