Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman just reported on a potential deal between the Vancouver Canucks and the Carolina Hurricanes, centering around forward Martin Necas.

It appears the Canucks are eyeing Necas for a while now, and things might just be heating up. Friedman dished out the basics of what this trade could look like.
Elliotte Friedman and the #Canucks trying to get Martin Necas : It is a harder deal to do with no Pettersson in deal like last time, The Canes will want top prospects, Hronek won't do it. It is a hard deal to do.
The Canucks aren't short on assets, especially with prospects like Jonatan Lekkerimaki and Tom Willander in their back pocket. They could be the bargaining chips in this deal.
Dhaliwal: «What are you hearing on the Canucks and Necas?»

Friedman: «The ask is big, I don't think Hronek is going to get it done. I think they're going to need to attach some of their top prospects. The talks are not the same as they were around the deadline.
Yet, it's all up in the air until the ink dries on that contract. Can the Canucks strike a deal with the Hurricanes for Necas? Only time will tell, but it sounds like there's some significant groundwork being laid.
