A few notable transactions at the preceding trade deadline imply an intentional, albeit partial, reorganization of the Washington Capitals.

The team's General Manager, Brian MacLellan, traded key players like Lars Eller, Marcus Johansson, Dmitry Orlov, Garnet Hathaway, and Erik Gustafsson. In return, the Capitals acquired promising young talent like Rasmus Sandin and garnered some significant draft picks.

Anticipated Further Changes

Following these transactions, the Capitals were expected to make additional changes in line with the draft and the commencement of the free agency market.
However, Pierre LeBrun, speaking on TSN, dismissed some of the circulating rumors as untrue.

Quashing of the Tom Wilson Rumor

One such rumor that has been rampant since the last deadline is the potential trade of Tom Wilson. Yet, recent developments confirm that Wilson is not on the trading block.

LeBrun quoted MacLellan saying:
"He's not calling teams about Tom Wilson, he does not want to trade Tom Wilson, [and] he's not sure why that's out there."

The 29-year-old winger is under contract for one more year with a cap hit of $5.17 million.
There are two plausible scenarios - either he renews his contract with the Capitals or potentially gets traded at the subsequent deadline. In the latter scenario, his value could likely appreciate.
