Capitals players return to help Trevor van Riemsdyk take on Rangers
At the start of the second intermission in game 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs between the Washington Capitals and New York Rangers, Capitals player Trevor van Riemsdyk found himself in the middle of the entire Rangers team when a scrum broke out, leading to his teammates rushing back to help.
Among those that returned to help Trevor van Riemsdyk was forward
Tom Wilson, a player feared by many across the NHL. Wilson skated directly towards the middle of the scrum in an attempt to help his outnumbered teammate.
With the Capitals trailing 3-1 at the time of the scrum occurring, van Riemsdyk could have been attempting to light a spark in his team, as the Capitals only had 15 shots on goal through 40 minutes of play, not nearly enough to beat the Presidents trophy winning Rangers.
The scrum quickly dissipated after the Capitals rushed back to the ice, but it could set the tone for the rest of what is sure to be a chippy series between division rivals.
