The Stanley Cup Playoffs have officially begun for the New York Rangers, with many NHL fans looking forward to this run for one reason; Matt Rempe. The 6-foot-7 rookie has caused mayhem all season long, and on his first playoff shift, he took a ridiculous penalty.
Rempe was called for a charge on a clean hit, and unsurprisingly, fans in the replies were calling out the officials, and rightfully so.
Rempe is going to do plenty of good for the Rangers this playoff run, but his reputation appears to already be hurting him, as he spends two minutes in the box early in his playoff career for a call that few others in the NHL would be called on.
