The KHL hosted a major event in recent times with the "Match of the Year" between KHL and NHL All-Stars, and now it may have consequences for Alex Ovechkin.

Alex Ovechkin has had a fairly quiet off-season thus far, until recently that is as he took part in the KHL's "Match of the Year", which pitted KHL All-Stars up against Russian NHL stars such as Ovechkin and Artemi Panarin. Now, the game may have some consequences, as it has been revealed that the Washington Capitals captain has suffered a knee injury coming out of the game.
"This injury is not too serious and did not prevent Ovechkin from playing in the Game of the Year a week ago," said a source from Match TV.

"But now Alexander has decided to take care of himself so that he can begin full training in 10 days."
Thankfully, the injury isn't expected to be a serious one, as Ovi is looking to take a few days to recover and will re-enter his off-season training with the start of the 2024/25 season just a matter of months away.

The game may have ended with an injury, but Ovechkin starred in the game, scoring a goal and being named MVP, with all signs pointing to the 38-year old bouncing back and having another stellar campaign this season. The Capitals have loaded up with talent around Ovechkin, with the additions of Andrew Mangiapane, Pierre-Luc Dubois, Matt Roy and Jakob Chychrun as they look for one last deep Stanley Cup Playoffs run, and with a healthy Ovechkin, absolutely anything can happen.
