The younger Nylander is nowhere near his older's stardom despite being selected 8th overall in 2016 by the Pittsburgh Penguins, but he can be useful in the bottom six for the Leafs. He was useful with the Columbus Blue Jackets where he had 11 goals and 15 points in 23 games.
Alex could land opportunity in the leafs regular lineup, especially if Nick Robertson's trade request is granted and he doesn't sign a contract as a current lingering restricted free agent. Yet even if it's not in the cards, he can play in a top role with the Marlies in the AHL.
