The Winnipeg Jets had high hopes for Rutger McGroarty, but with his recent attitude issues, they would love to land this blockbuster deal with the Calgary Flames.

Back in the 2022 NHL Draft, the Winnipeg Jets believed that they had hit a major home run in the first-round when they drafted Michigan Wolverines forward Rutger McGroarty, but things haven't quite panned out that way. Despite never playing NHL minutes, the 20-year old has demanded playing time in the NHL, and after being denied that opportunity (the Jets instead insisted he would need to earn his minutes), he announced a return to Michigan for a third season.
Those issues have clearly gotten the best of the Jets, as they are now looking to move him, and while they're yet to get official offers on him, one recent trade proposal stands out as an intriguing one with the rebuilding Calgary Flames.
The deal would see the rebuilding Flames land a potential cornerstone of the future, while Winnipeg would get back a legit top-four defenseman in Rasmus Andersson, who could help lead this team deeper in the Stanley Cup Playoffs immediately. On paper, it's a win-win for both of these teams, with the only potential holdup being the Flames question marks over McGroarty's character, but if this deal came through, it's safe to say that both fan bases would be quite happy about it.
