Tensions began to boil over in a pre-season contest between the New York Rangers and the Boston Bruins as a fight broke out at the end of the second period.
The NHL pre-season is finally here and things got off to a fiesty start between the Bruins and Rangers as Brennan Othmann and Parker Wotherspoon dropped the gloves at the end of the second period on Sunday night.
Othmann laid a pretty dirty hit on Wotherspoon earlier in the game, knocking Wotherspoon out of the game for most of the first period.
Wotherspoon saw his chance to get back at Othmann during a scrum near the end of the second period, and the two dropped the mitts, with Wotherspoon clearly getting the better of Othmann in the fight.
These two teams have been regular season powerhouses over the past few seasons, and it seems like a rivalry has formed between the two original six franchises early on in the pre-season.
Brennan Othmann is making an early case to crack the Rangers roster this season after posting impressive numbers in his rookie season in the AHL last season. His combined grit and skill makes him very difficult to play against, and a rarity in today's NHL.
