The first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs has recently concluded, and there were many surprising outcomes, particularly in the Eastern Conference. One of the biggest shocks was the Toronto Maple Leafs' victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning, propelling them to the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 2004.
Furthermore, the Florida Panthers achieved one of the biggest upsets in NHL playoff history by coming back from a 3-1 series deficit to eliminate the President Trophy-winning Boston Bruins in a thrilling game seven.
In the Western Conference, the Edmonton Oilers also advanced to the second round after defeating the Los Angeles Kings. This remarkable achievement even prompted the popular restaurant franchise, Boston Pizza, to pledge their support to the Oilers and Leafs.
Overall, the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs produced many unexpected and exciting results, leaving fans eagerly anticipating what the second round has in store.
